GOLD BAR REGULAR SEASON
SLO-PITCH RULES & REGULATIONS
Gold Bar Mixed Slo-Pitch will be governed by the C.A.S.A. Rule Book with the
following additions, changes & amendments:
- (a) Each team is allowed to field a maximum of ten registered and paid
players, of which a maximum of seven males is permitted.
(b) Each team must field a minimum of nine players, of which at least
two must be female.
(c) In the event that only two females are participating, there must still
be three females in the batting order.
Failure to meet 1(b) at game time will result in forfeiture of
the game by the defaulting team. Failure to comply with 1(c) will also result
in forfeiture of the game.
-
Minimum age of each player shall be 16 years old.
-
Each team must have their own equipment. The home team shall supply the
bases, including the wooden home plate.
-
In accordance with City of Edmonton By-Laws, there shall be NO ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES or ILLEGAL DRUGS consumed on the grounds. Please note that pets
are not permitted on any school grounds or on the grounds of Rundle Park.
-
The catcher/fielder will touch the wooden mat to effect an out, while
the runner will play the horizontal line drawn several feet left off the
home plate. (This ruling is in place to prevent collision and injuries between
the catcher and the runner.)
-
The Commitment Line is a horizontal line marked off perpendicular to the
baseline between home plate and third base. It is located approximately
20 feet from home plate. In the interest of safety, any player crossing
the Commitment Line will not be allowed to return to third. Should this
happen, the runner is automatically out.
-
No metal cleats will be permitted. Offending players will be requested
to remove the offending footwear or leave the game.
-
There will be NO pinch runners allowed.
-
Sliding is permitted on second and third bases only.
-
A ball that hits the wooden mat is considered a strike.
-
Prior to start of the game, it will be the responsibility of the team captains,
or their designates, should they choose to do so, to agree upon the selection
of two umpires from each team to call the game. (This ruling is at the discretion
of the captains and applies only to seasonal games.)
-
Four consecutive balls, in which at least one strike has been thrown, constitute
a walk.
-
In the event a pitcher walks a batter by pitching four consecutive balls
without any strikes, the batter will automatically proceed to second base.
The following batter, regardless of gender, will have the option of batting
or taking first base.
-
The distance between bases should be 60 feet.
-
The pitcher’s box must be a minimum of 46 feet from the front of
home plate. (It may be more, but should be no less than 46 ft.)
-
Scorekeepers should periodically compare score sheets in order to eliminate
any possible confusion. They should also agree on the final scores and on
the list of players in the game.
-
The list of batters should include both the first and last names of each
player. This will help eliminate confusion by the league statistician.
-
Should a player arrive after the game has begun, that player may only join
his/her team once his/her team is at bat.
- In order to participate in the Gold Bar Slo-pitch League, each player must
be:
a) a paid up, registered member of the Gold Bar Slo-pitch League, and,
b) a member of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, preferably
a current member of the community league in which they reside, or, if not
available, an Associate Member of the Gold Bar Community League. This is
necessary in order for each player to qualify under the EFCL Insurance Program.
-
2 full innings are required to count as a player being qualified as playing a game
Should an individual lack any of the above criteria at game time, he/she will
not be permitted to participate in any Gold Bar Slo-pitch League game until
such time as all of the criteria have been met. Any team fielding a player
that is not properly registered and insured will forfeit that game.
To ensure that this policy is being adhered to, each of the captains will receive
the list of qualified players. It will then be the responsibility of each captain
to ensure that only the listed individuals be allowed to participate.
All registered names are submitted by fax to Medallion Insurance at the end
of the day on May 31 of the current year. There will be no refunds or transfer
of fees after this date. Registrants applying after this date will be accepted
at the discretion of the Gold Bar Community Slo-pitch Committee.
Regular Season Standings:
A trophy will be awarded to the team with the best overall record during the
regular season, based on the following criteria:
- 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss
Game cancellations / field closure:
Fields may be closed as a result of rain. Under City of Edmonton regulations,
we are not permitted to play on a field that has been closed.
“FAILING TO FOLLOW CITY OF EDMONTON GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN THE CANCELLATION
OF OUR PERMIT. WE MAY ALSO BE HELD FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING DAMAGE
TO THE FIELD.”
To check to see if your field has been closed, call the City of Edmonton “Field
Condition Line” at 496-4999 (press “1")
or
check the website. The conditions are updated daily at 4:00 p.m.
As a courtesy to the opposing team, captains are encouraged to personally contact
each other, well in advance of game time to indicate that they will not be showing
up. Last minute voice mail messages may not suffice. A “no show”
or contentious, last minute cancellation, may result in a forfeiture of the
game by the defaulting team.
Please attempt to make up a rain out game the next time you play that team.
Upon mutual consent, the captains have the option of playing a double header
consisting of two five-inning games.
Additional comments:
1) Seasonal team standings will be made available upon request on July 1.
